About the study
Who is Involved?
The project stakeholders are a large and varied group. The Villages of Romeoville, Bolingbrook and Plainfield will lead the study in conjunction with IDOT and the Federal Highway Administration. A consultant team lead by V3 Companies will perform engineering studies and coordinate stakeholder outreach efforts. This effort will include outreach to residents, and owners of adjacent and nearby properties, users of I-55, Weber Road, IL 126, Airport Road, Lockport Street and the surrounding roadway network, local businesses, elected officials, local agencies such as the Village of Crest Hill, City of Joliet or Will County and the general Public.
Phase I Study Process

The planning process is based on guidelines prescribed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) which follows the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The first public meeting was held on 2/22/11 and identified general issues, developed information on the community context, defined the project’s Purpose and Need, and introduced the public involvement process. The Purpose and Need is a statement of the problem to be solved by the project.

During the second public meeting held on 6/21/12, the Purpose and Need was presented, concept alternatives were introduced and feedback was solicited.

The third public meeting was held on October 13, 2016. The remaining alternatives being considered were presented and stakeholder input was solicited. A final public hearing is tentatively scheduled for Fall 2018. The preferred alternative for the project will be presented.
